Grizzly Ghosts

Looking for spine chilling ways to amuse your family during this time of social distancing?  My article, Grizzly Ghosts: Tales of the Hoodooswas published in the April 2020 edition of IDAHO Magazine.  The article covers ghost stories new and old that have been passed around campfires by decades of scouts attending Camp Grizzly as well as some mysterious happenings that occurred elsewhere in the Hoodoos.

Those not affiliated with the scouting program can still spin yarns around their campfires at the adjacent Laird Park campground.  Laird Park, managed by the U.S. Forest Service, has 35 campsites, a day-use area, and a swimming hole.  The park is currently closed due to the Covid-19 outbreak, but you can make summer reservations on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests website.

A limited number of copies of the magazine are available from BookPeople of Moscow.  The store is currently closed to browsers, but BookPeople staff are happy to take orders by phone and online, then mail materials directly to shoppers.  The April 2020 edition can also be purchased directly from IDAHO Magazine using their website:

Curious scouts and local history enthusiasts will find links to other articles covering the history of Camp Grizzly from 1860 to 1942 in a prior post, Camp Grizzly History.
